Coach: Ken Adams, 1988 U.S. Olympic team coach and trainer for 14 current and former world champions — in the historic Johnny Taco gym in Las Vegas

Club BJ Trained in as a Child: Boys & Girls Club of America, Springfield, Missouri

Began Boxing: 1983 – As a 4-year-old, BJ used to go to the military gym at Ft. Hood, TX, with his Dad and brothers to watch Olympic Coach Ken Adams, BJ’s current professional coach, train military Olympic Contenders. BJ became the youngest gym “mascot,” receiving pointers, trunks, trophy gloves and affectionate reprimands and coaching from future boxing champions Kennedy McKinney, Vince Phillips, and countless others. BJ’s grandfather, Ralph Flores, and BJ’s father, Frank Flores, were both into boxing, and BJ’s father, Frank encouraged all four of his sons to box. At one particular Golden Gloves Championship, all four boys, BJ Flores, and his three brothers, Jeremy, Joshua and Ryan, all won their respective weight classes on the same night.

Loves most about boxing: Loves to travel to different countries, meet new friends, and learn about new people and cultures. BJ often visits hospitals and charity organizations when traveling.

Career highlight: Winning the adult US National Championship two years in a row (2001, 2002).

Biggest goal in and out of the ring: To keep the conflict in the ring, and always maintain class and a good attitude outside of the ring.

BJ’s Training Regime: I run every morning, train every day at noon and lift weights at 5:30, so there's not much time for anything else ... but golf."
Extracurricular Activities: BJ enjoys commentating for various sporting events in both Spanish and English. BJ hopes to one day pursue a career in professional Sports Broadcasting.

Hobbies outside of boxing: BJ enjoys teaching boxing to young kids. BJ is also involved in various charities and is frequently a motivational speaker at various High Schools and Junior Highs. (To contact BJ regarding public appearances or speaking engagements, click on “Contact Us.”) BJ also loves to play with his nieces and nephews.

Favorite sports outside of boxing: Golf is BJ’s favorite sport to play, especially if he and his brother, Jeremy, are playing for bragging rights and to see who has to buy dinner. Apparently the golf game is getting better, down to around a 10-handicap.

Football is BJ’s favorite sport to watch. BJ played football in high school and college. BJ received All-State honors and attended college on a football scholarship, while continuing his boxing career and maintaining a 3.2 GPA.

Greatest strength in the ring: Great hand speed and the ability to change his style.  Also a crippling right hand and solid left hook. (4 first round knockouts!!)

Favorite thing about being in the ring: The competition.  BJ thrives on it!!  He has always loved to compete!

Did you know: BJ was the only American to win a Gold medal at the 4-Nations Tournament in Laval, France.  He earned international victories against Korea, China, Germany, France, and Australia for the USA.

BJ’s Training Foods often include: Protein Powder, Propel sport water, egg-white omelets, Power Protein Pancakes

BJ’s Favorite “Splurge” foods after a Boxing Match: Everything--- but especially Cookies N’ Cream Ice-Cream, Oreos, Spaghetti & Meatballs, and his Grandmother, Teresa’s, enchiladas and tostadas.

Other things BJ loves: Dancing (Merengue, Salsa), X-Box, strategizing in card and other games and competition of any kind. BJ likes to win.
